Teacher Feature: Kara Douglas

Inquisitive ~ Responsive ~ Foundational

Kara is a true teacher in every sense of the word. To be a student in one of her classes, you are filled up in body, mind, and soul. Her classes are for students who want to go beyond the surface and learn more about themselves in the context of a yoga practice. Kara’s intelligence, enthusiasm, and compassion is apparent in every single class, and there is good reason her Thursday morning classes at FYC have created a solid following. She has been an integral part of this community for over 4.5 years, and we are so thankful for the gifts she shares.

Join Kara every Thursday morning at 9:30am for extremely popular Slow Flow class: it just might be one of the best things you do for yourself all week!

As Kara says, “Some practitioners come to yoga with a physical tendency toward stability and strength; others with a tendency toward mobility and flexibility. Slow Flow attempts to balance these tendencies, helping bendier practitioners become strong and challenging strong practitioners to develop safe ranges of motion. Class begins gently, often with simple breathing techniques and movements to generate warmth, encourage circulation and release areas of tension. We build to posture flows with longer holds that can underscore alignment with foundational strength, building focus, patience and purpose. Simple postural forms are emphasized, though variations are offered for more experienced practitioners.”
