What should I bring to class? If you don’t own any yoga gear, don’t worry; the studio is outfitted with all you need to enjoy a yoga class. Mats, straps, blankets and blocks are available for your use. Bringing a large towel for mopping up sweat and a water bottle are also two necessary items, but if you forget, we do have have bottled water for sale, and towels for rent.
What should I wear? Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. You will most likely work up a sweat in the Power Flow and Flow Beyond classes, so take that into consideration when choosing your attire.
Is there some sort of yoga etiquette I should be aware of? Yes, thanks for asking. The following practices are sure to set the tone for an enjoyable experience for you and your fellow yogis.

  • We ask that you turn your cellphones to ‘silent’.
  • Please remove your shoes in the lobby.
  • Please refrain from wearing perfumes.
  • Please be considerate of your neighbors’ space when setting up your mat.
  • Please arrive on time and check in with the instructor should you need to leave early.
I’m not flexible. I’m too old. I’m not thin enough. I can’t relax and clear my mind. Yoga is not about thin people contorting their bodies in pretzel-like positions, while looking incredibly peaceful.  At Freeport Yoga Company, you will find real people of all shapes and sizes moving, stretching, breathing and most of all, learning about themselves. In our welcoming environment, you will experience physical change and mental growth. With each class, you have the opportunity to give yourself exactly what you need to get the most out of your yoga practice.
What classes are appropriate for beginners? All classes, with the exception of Flow Beyond, are appropriate for beginners. Modifications are always offered, so no matter where you are in your yoga journey, you can be sure to get something out of each class. The key is to listen and trust the instructor, and not push yourself if you’re physically not ready. Take a look at the class descriptions to find a class that will meet your needs. Over time, every class will become more comfortable with familiarity and practice!
Will class be held in the event of bad weather? If we need to cancel class due to inclement weather, that information will be posted on our website and Facebook page at least one hour prior to the start of class. Please use your own judgment in deciding whether or not to travel in uncertain weather.
