Moment to Moment: A Retreat in Belize RECAP

Today of all days seems most appropriate for a trip down memory lane to the warm, sun-filled days recently spent in Belize. (note:  we in Maine are currently experiencing the phenomena of an April snowstorm!)

Just a few short weeks ago, Josh Summers and I, along with a handful of students, escaped the winter doldrums and retreated to a little island in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Belize.  Caye Caulker became our home for the week, as our group fully immersed in the island culture and community.  The island’s motto, “Go Slow”, was an apt mantra embraced by all during our week in paradise.

While the daily yoga and meditation practices, gorgeous natural surroundings, agreeable weather, and the relaxed, friendly vibe of the island all played a role in the overall success of the retreat, the cohesiveness of the group is what truly made it a precious experience.   We shared some special times together that have left a lasting imprint on me, for which I’ll be eternally grateful.

So, on this snowy Maine day, I’d like to share a handful of photos taken by FYC student, travel photographer, and one heck of a cool, smart and hilarious person, Cindy Giovagnoli.  Please note Cindy also won the “Best Storyteller” award for the week of the retreat; she can certainly captivate an audience!

Hopefully these photos will brighten your day, and perhaps inspire you to join the next tropical retreat with Freeport Yoga Company!  Details to be posted soon!

Happy Spring!~~Terry
